January was a long month and I was itching to get on site and just be one with the dust and noise. So as it is I went out searching for opportunities. This was at a time where there were many construction projects happening on site.

One thing I learnt from attending online webinars is the art of putting yourself out there and being a Brand.

This landed me my first on site opportunity for the year. i had an interview for the position on the 3rd of February and a few days later I was on the road to success.

Our first event is focused on mental health. Our guests share important skills and healing advice. Our organisation is based on ensuring young women stay in power

This was a success

Executive meeting involve planning for the year

What events we think will be needed and what difference we would like to make

Today I was elected as an executive member for the schools WPN WITS students chapters

This is a great achievement

As we pledged our roles and commitment in a meetings

2 year exams were in a day so we spent the day reinforcing and doing past papers

In enjoyed QS so much that I would find different ways to explain and understand. I used this to assist my peers. So when the opportunity came I thought it was a good idea

I made it as a tutor for the ASAQS

In preparation for exams we spent the day preparing and later had an online session

After a while of not being able to go on site today I got an opportunity to do so. I spent the day doing admin work with the construction manager. This allowed me the opportunity to see what happens behind the scenes on site

A lot of progress has been made

I’m super proud

This event was supper insightful. We got to see how academic excellence can open many doors. Mentorship is key in the growth of an individual

After some time of evaluating costs it wasn’t wise go for a slab roof which would also be the first floor therefore the contractors and engineers decided on a roof called rib and block. As illustrated in the picture below. Timber supports are placed underneath in perpendicular direction to the rib. The ribs are lying in a row forming columns. In betweeen the columns are the blocks. Concrete blocks which are cheaper to purchase

Today my main focus On a single trade of site. Calculating how much material was used and how much more we still need for the project. This was long by interesting.
